PDX Comix

Weird Comics

Hey, all, I'm really excited to show off this year's Festival poster, designed and illustrated by our special guest, Derek Kirk Kim! The design is exclusive to the Stumptown Comics Fest, and these gorgeous 18x24" prints will be available at the show, while supplies last! Click on the image for a larger view! Also, don't forget that the Early Registration Deadline is coming up in just one short week! That's right, starting on August 1st half-tables for the Fest will cost $20, and full tables will cost $40. Tables are filling up, so make sure you get your registration forms in soon! And finally, I'll be putting up the full Event Schedule soon, we've got a full day planned, starting with a Q&A session with Derek Kirk Kim; video presentations by both Michel Gagné, and J.R. Williams & Dennis Eichhorn; A panel concerning censorship moderated by Shannon Wheeler, a screening of a locally-made documentary about the Portland comics scene, and wrapping up with the triumphant return of the infamous Comic Art Battle! All are welcome and none will survive this Crucible of Comix Chaos! Adult toons are becoming more and more popular and are gathering a real cult following; sites like busty toons are really becoming hot favourites of toon fanatics.

Thanks to the tremendous response from the local comics community, this year's Stumptown Comics Fest is officially sold out! Man, color me amazed! For comparison, last year we had 22 tables split between 33 exhibitors, and this year we have 80 tables crammed full with over 120 exhibitors! To say we've grown is a major understatement, and I want to thank everyone who registered to appear at this year's Fest! So, for those of you who haven't sent in your forms yet, I have started a waiting list (already a couple names on it, in fact), and I'll be adding names to it on a first-come, first-served basis as I try to secure a few more tables to accomodate the overflow. It's my hope that everyone who wants to exhibit will be able to. I'll also be going through the process of assigning the available tables, so if you've got your registration in, you'll have a number soon. Also, check out the freshly-updated Events Schedule! You'll find a full day of presentations, one-on-one time with various artists, panel discussions, and of course, the return of the infamous Comic Art Battle! Now you can plan your whole day! How cool is that? Pretty darned cool, says me
